I had to think and come up with an idea which should also go along with what the client wanted me to include. I decided go with a wrap around design and since this is a space exploration type of book, I went with a minimal but futuristic approach. The color scheme I used also matter because this story involves the moon so I used a grey-ish color scheme. David, who is the author of this book was highly satisfied with the design and together we perfected it by making minor changes. This is the final design we came up with.")

The client, David, provided me a brief context on a scene he has in his book, to implement as a design for the overall book. This time unlike the cooler color tones of the first book, had to give a warmer feeling to the reader. But at the same time preserve the design consistency of the series. David provided a bunch of his own stock images for me to work with, and was highly satisfied with the design I came up with, and together we perfected it by making minor changes. Author tells the story through 11 characters' point of view (a different character in each chapter). For the cover design I thought I should take this type of simple yet contrasting design approach. Therefore I used the teal colors and a pharaoh mummy mask as the main elements of the cover. Then for the title I used two basic effects to contrast them from their backgrounds as well. Since this is a story about assassination and murder conspiracy, I wanted to convey that as well so I used blood stains below the mummy mask. I believe I did a good job regarding this cover.

\"A Valarian Odyssey\" is a concept art of medieval times and dragons, and has a good connection to the Game of Thrones lore. To create this artwork, I had to go through a dozen of reference materials to get an idea about the environment and visual interests that I can use, to make this work. I think I did a great job here and I enjoyed every single bit creating this :)")

So after a whole lot of creative thinking, this was the resulting artwork I came up with. Jana, the client, she wanted make a few changes but nothing major.")

This book is about \"Elle\", the protagonist, exploring the new world she had visited during \"Freefall\". For this cover however, there were 3 main sketches and the Jana (Author) liked this approach. Then I developed the sketch into a full artwork with all the relevant details she wanted me to include. This artwork shows a good connection to its prequel cover \"Freefall\". I think this artwork gives that hopeful yet mysterious feeling of visiting a completely new planet.")

I took a different approach here, other than the typical designs with zombies and apocalyptic covers. Here I thought of presenting a cover that focuses more on the disease itself.
I wanted make the cover look more deadly, cold, menacing and infected but simple and bold at the same time.
I tried to achieve that through the typography only. It was a challenge but I think I did pretty well.
I hope this approach conveys the deadliness of the virus itself rather than using traditional zombies and cities.")

I chose the second design idea the author had given; a hairy monster, since I love to do creepy creature designs :) Anyway as the author mentioned in the brief, I tried to achieve what he might wanted the creature/monster to look like. I didn't include the complete human skin mask like he asked to, but I tore it a bit to give a savage feel to the creature. Also if I include the full mask, then it's even harder to show the creature inside.")

For this book I took Caleb's pocket watch and its magic. For the next book I could use Chelsea's fire magic elements, like so on. All the covers will then have 5 different elements of the story and will have 5 main different colors for each book. This way the covers would look simple and focused but not cluttered with elements at the same time.
I also wanted to give the title a magical feel as well while blending in to the surrounding.
For the back cover I placed a moon also since its another element of the story.")
