We need an unflattened PSD for a website design of our homepage. It should show the styles to be used for each of the main areas of the site. Any fonts and images used should be freely available/community licenced.
Garden House Solicitors
After completing a competition on here for a new logo, we’re now after a graphical design for our new web site. This only needs to be supplied as a layered PSD or Fireworks PNG (with layers), the conversion to HTML/CSS will be done by us. Any fonts used should be freely available and supplied or links given.
The main areas of the site will be summary sections for the different areas of law we cover, profiles of our staff, a blog/news section, claim action form, testimonials and a contact page.
We would suggest that web design should be of a law section page or the home page, but it should clearly show a random testimonial on every page, have a clear “call to action” button to start the claim action form and have headlines or snippets of the latest blog/news posts. The homepage should clearly show each of the areas of law we cover along with a simple summary.
The text can be Lorem Ipsum for now, don’t worry about getting realistic content. The areas of law we cover are: Personal Injury, Wills/Probate, Civil Cases and Employment law.
The focus for the design should be a very commercial professional looking site (not quirky or cartoony) but modern and clean. We’d like to focus on the fact that we are a local business with a very friendly/human side. We also focus on ensuring our clients get great rehabilitation care not just money.
The new logo is available from here: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/478290/G…parent.png
For an example of some sites we like and why:
AndersonsLaw.co.uk
Clear navigation on the left and an image clearly shows their four areas of law practice.
Amelans.co.uk
Clear areas on top, but they look accident only based whereas we are in different areas. The random testimonials are great and we like that the top clear areas shrink when in one of the content pages. However, we don’t like the overall look of this site, in particular the colour choice.
Fentons.co.uk
Nice call to action – Start your claim. The navigation on the left is clear for work areas and the contact details are very clear.
Ameermeredith.com
We like the simple navigation buttons (and the hovering effect, so maybe the winning design could show the change that happens when hovering over one of the nav items). The text is far too small though.
DWF.co.uk
The people profiles on this site are great. It looks very clean, white background, uncluttered. The small rounded corner boxes are great (although we can’t obviously copy them), but again the font is too small.
- Navigation for main sections: Areas of law, staff profiles, blog, testimonials, call to claim action form and about us
- Fitting with our new logo
- Clean and clear, professional and modern, friendly
- Open to colour choice, but fitting with our new logo colours
- Cartoony/quirky looking
- Overly corporate looking (it should emphasise the small local side of the business)
- Future legal problems caused by using unlicensed images or fonts.
