GamedayHousing.com
We are the nation's leading resource for sports fans who want to save big bucks on big game weekends by renting a vacation home instead of a hotel room. We make this possible by running a site where owners can list their properties and guests can book these homes as easily as they would book a hotel room on kayak.com or hotels.com. We guarantee every transaction on the site and are available to property owners and their guests by phone 12 hours a day.
gamedayhousing.com
mailchimp.com - like the clean look and the ease of use. Love the playful nature of the design. Love the use of a colorful background to highlight important information.
basecamphq.com (37signals.com) - love the clean look and emphasis on education of user.
kayak.com - lots of good features for displaying properties and instilling trust / confidence in booking process. Very usable design, very focused on the business goals of the site.
hotels.com - more focused on trust process, not as usable, don't like the way information is displayed at hotel level.
airbnb.com - nice clean looking site / very usable. Love how the information on a property is listed. love how slick and usable the search results page is. Pages are clean but not so clean that character is taken away.
yelp.com - lots of content to help search rankings.
zappos.com/womens-belts-fashion-accessories~1 - 1. we really like the way zappos has built a permalink into their url 2. we really how fast, clean, and usable this page is. 3. in particular we like how easy it is to sort and filter results
You will be redesigning two pages that represent the core of our business. Your job is to make them more clean, add a few features described below, and focus mainly on usability. If you ever feel that a feature or copy is cluttering the design - tell us!
In general we like the look and feel of airbnb, zappos, and mailchimp. Each is clean yet fun. That's what we're shooting for here!
Here is a list of the pages you'll be working on:
1. a search results page that lists all of the rental properties available in a certain geography. CURRENT PAGE HERE:
http://www.gamedayhousing.com/searc…ventId=774
2. a property listing page that provides more detail on an individual rental property. CURRENT PAGE HERE:
http://www.gamedayhousing.com/details/13/774
3. A new home page gamedayhousing.com
More details on the design requirements for each page as well as mockups can be downloaded here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/702453/99de…ns-gdh.zip
Within that zip here are the files that matter for each page:
1. Home page mock up - shows the basic features as we feel we need them but we're not stuck on the layout. Here's the rank order of features on the page: 1. Search bar - get's our clients into our core business 2. Educate - tell new users about our business (sample homes, points of difference, etc.) 3. Utilities (sitewide navigation such as how it works, help, login and then footer information)
2. search results Page - see results page.doc results.jpg
3. Property Listing Page - listing.doc / listing.jpg (note there are three different views in the mock ups)
We have tried to include all image files, docs, etc. that one would need at this dropbox location: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/702453/99de…ns-gdh.zip
In the package you should find all of the design documentation described above. Further there are a variety of photos featuring stock images of homes, locations, publications that have featured gamedayhousing.com, etc.

work product should be submitted in psd format (RBG layers)
We plan to hire the winning designer to work on a large scale project with up to 150 hours of work needed to build more pages.
Our MAJOR pain points (or why we're hiring you):
- Need better social media integration
- Need to be more clean
Our internal designer put together the mockups but we need help cleaning things up and extra hands on this project so that's where YOU come in!
The mock ups show very basic features that we want - we're not stuck on any layout or look and feel of a page.
