Our website has a LOT of content! We have over 2,000 articles. However, users tell us it's hard to find the content they want. We use a news site layout (think nytimes.com) but our articles are "how to"/reference/authority pieces (more like Wikipedia articles than news articles). The majority of our organic traffic comes from search, which gives us a few key missions:
1.) We need to grab users immediately and get them sucked into the page content
2.) We need to get other interesting, relevant links in front of users so they will click around and get absorbed
3.) We also need to be able to ask users to opt into the newsletter, and present them with a few other ads, offers, or quizzes that might interest them
Color-wise, our traditional colors are orange, white, and gray.
Layout-wise, please change whatever you like. Our current site has a large logo at the top of the page. However, if you want to make this smaller, or even forego the icon we have in the logo and just use our website name (to use less space above the fold), give it a whirl!
Traffic-wise, over 78% of our traffic is mobile. Only 19% is desktop (the rest is tablet). Our present theme was designed "desktop first"; but any future designs will have to be "mobile first" -- without neglecting the desktop side of things.
