Player Dugout is a recreational sports management website focused on the player. It allows recreational players to create a professional profile that can consolidate detailed statistics from many different leagues, maintain career statistics, upload photos and videos, and create a social network of like-minded individuals and organizations.
Recreational baseball and softball players. Typically non-sophisticated users, but users who are likely used to using sports boxscores from mlb.com, yahoo.com, etc.
As part of the website, users can create their own profiles and have the statistics tracked from the leagues and games they play in. Right now, users are required to enter in statistics in an ordinary way (see standard_scoring.bmp - attached). This requires that the numbers be entered in manually.
I would like users to be able to enter a score more naturally, by viewing a baseball field on the screen and updating the action in more of a live format. This would allow much more detailed scoring of the game and give users a more dynamic feel.
The design I am looking for would be the actual scoring widget. A very simple mockup is attached (mockup.gif). The winning design will incorporate the best functional design with the coolest and most engaging user experience. You have no restrictions on colors or even layout. Just remember that the website is currently using the standard design in the screenshot. The company logo is also attached.
In the end I'd like to receive:
- Background image of the widget (field or whatever else you use)
- Any supporting images
- Color schemes (in hex)
- Fonts used
- Overall pic of finished layout
