I provide laser surgery training to dentists. Laser surgery is a very high tech approach to dentistry with which not many dentists are familiar. Lasers connote sophistication and leading edge dentistry.

I have writen a surgical syllabus (in three 250 page volumes) that I want to sell to participants who take my courses. I also want to expand my customer base to the internet. Dentists come to my introductory courses and learn the basics about how lasers are used in oral surgery, but time constraints prevent them from learning the details. My surgical syllabus provides hundreds of detailed examples of surgeries, with step-by-step protocols. Since only 10% of dentists use lasers, my target market is virtually unlimited (165,000 dentists in the U.S., and 650,000 world-wide).
I want to emphasize that this design is for the cover (and perhaps the back cover) of the syllabus that is going to be professionally printed.
I need to get my target audience's attention with a cover to the syllabus that will grab their attention and make them want to purchase it (in about 5 seconds). Because I have three volumes, I wonder if all three covers should be the same, with just 1, 2, or 3 somewhere to identify which of the three the particular volume is.
I also wonder if there should be a back cover design that complements the front cover. I am thinking of putting my personal information on the back cover.
