No-Work Spanish -- http://www.noworkspanish.com
I created No-Work Spanish stories because I wondered if you couldn’t learn a foreign language simply by listening to stories where each sentence is read first in English, then in Spanish. The concept was based on knowing that when you listen to music, you effortlessly remember the next line in a song. So, I wondered, if you listened to stories, where you heard a sentence in English, then in Spanish, would your mind connect the two, just as effortlessly? And if so, wouldn’t this be closer to the way we learn our first language and therefore more natural?
The only way to figure out if this would work was to try it. I’ve written stories, primarily for kids, for many years. So I hired Michelle Thorson to translate and read my story Poster Girl, in this format. And I was the first student. I had no Spanish experience. I learned not just Spanish, but how to make No-Work Spanish stories more effective, to use short sentences and short chapters. Knowing that No-Work Spanish is both effective and enjoyable, I want to make No-Work Spanish into a product because learning a foreign language doesn’t have to be drudgery.
I'm looking for packaging that is as unique and appealing as I believe the No-Work Spanish concept to be.
More info on the concept is available at NoWorkSpanish.com. Sign up for the mailing list there if you'd like an email when the product is available.
Anyone interested in learning Spanish or having their child learn Spanish. This includes high school and college students, their parents, travelers, people living in areas with a sizeable Spanish population.
No-Work Spanish would appeal particularly to people who are disatisfied with other methods of learning Spanish. Commuters who may have tried Spanish language audio programs and found them boring. Students with low grades in Spanish. Parents who want their children to start learning Spanish earlier than it is available in their local school.
Please design the spine and front cover for the first 3 titles (audiobooks) of No-Work Spanish series:
1. Yaks March on Washington
2. Poster Girl
3. The Case of the Missing Poodle
They will be sold in the foreign language section of bookstores. They will be packaged in a DVD case with an O-card cover.
The spine of the O-card measures .5 inches x 7.5 inches. Since bookstores often display books with only the spine (side) visible, try to make this small area catch the book browser's eye.
The front cover of the O-card measures 5.3 inches x 7.5 inches. This contest is only to design the front cover and spine. The back cover will be designed afterwards. A portion of each cover should be the same with "No-Work Spanish" clearly visible and then a portion of each cover will be unique for each title.
Entries should include 3 front covers to correspond to the 3 titles
I am attaching
- a few yak pictures related to the real story Yaks March On Washington is based on. Can use on cover.
- the cover image of the chapter book edition (I own copyright) of Poster Girl
I don’t have pictures related to “The Case of the Missing Poodle” but you should know it is about a "white poodle with blue eyes" and an 11-year-old boy who hopes to find her and claim the reward
Thanks in advance to those entering. I appreciate your effort and am sure I will struggle to choose just one.
