Redesign these three illustrations for a scientific publication!

I'm a researcher who just got her latest paper accepted for publication but who wants to add an extra touch by getting the graphics professionally done :)

Fellow academics; students; practitioners of integrated decision support system design and development.

This contest is for the redesign of three illustrations that are used in my latest paper entitled “A methodology for the design and development of integrated models for policy support”. In this paper I present a description of best practices for developing software systems (or Decision Support Systems) that are made by scientists to be used by policy analysts for investigating the impact of spatial planning alternatives, such as the effects of building a new road on the job market in areas next to this road, or the environmental effects of industry expansion or urban sprawl.

I made the first version in Word and, as you can imagine, they don’t look as good as they could. I’m hoping this contest will attract some creative minds who can package the idea that the illustration is meant to convey into an attractive picture :)
