Wie Scott Kelly das erste logo design Abenteuer antrat
We are forming a new youth lacrosse club with all-star teams in Seattle, Washington. Lacrosse is known as the fastest sport on two feet - check out YouTube to see how the sport is played. Our new club will have the best local players competing nationally with other all star teams. The word SLASH conjures up the aggressive nature of the game - fast, x-games mentality. We don't want to appear violent - but we do want the image of a very competitive, and forceful team.
Erzählen Sie uns, wer Sie sind und wen Sie erreichen wollen?
Our audience is primarily boys from the ages of 11 - 18 who play lacrosse. For many, lacrosse is a 'lifestyle' that carries on and off the field. It has a bit of the skater mentality of not being main-stream so it is important that our logo reflect the 'edginess' of the sport. On the field, the sport combines high speed running, fast passing and aggressive contact. Players where pads and companies you can check out for reference are WARRIOR, BRINE, GAIT, ADRENALIN and STX - all manufacturers of lacrosse equipment. In addition, there are pro teams and this would show you the best examples of logos we like - see WASHINGTON STEALTH, COLORADO MAMMOTHS, BOSTON BLAZERS and EDMONTON RUSH. What we can't have is something that is bloody - like a knife wound representing SLASH. Parent's don't want it to appear that they are putting there kids in a program that is violent. You might consider an approach like the MONSTER ENERGY DRINK look that suggests an animal or monster left claw or slash marks. It would be ok to include an animal paw with the 'slash marks' but just don't make it look bloody - that will be over the top and suggest to much violence. We want kids (boys) to like this immediately.
The logo must have two elements. A graphic representing SLASH and a type treatment that reads SEATTLE SLASH. The logo will be used on our website, uniforms and collateral materials like tournaments announcements, stadium signs and advertising. It must be able to be reproduced in 1 color, 2 color and 4 color. For example, Monster Energy Drink has the claw marks which resemble the letter 'M' (that's the graphic) that can be stand alone or combined with the MONSTER ENERGY unique typeface underneath. It is also capable of standing alone in just one color - or can be used on a uniform (2 color) and even a full four color version with vignettes that give it more dimension and shape. We would like the same. Again, can't be like a 'slasher' movie look - we aren't showing violence - but more speed and the aggressive nature of the sport. A common phrase used in lacrosse is that a players 'slashes' to the goal. We want to capture that energy. We want boys 11-18 to say 'cool' when they see it.
We would also like a color scheme - we won't dictate what that would be but we like BLACK as part of the palette (this isn't a requirement). We need to carry the look on uniforms so use that in your thinking.
