After working for the maker of BlackBerry (RIM) for 2 years we noticed a huge opportunity - media management. We are now in the early stages of establishing a partnership with RIM, and have been told this could go huge. We are only students, so we can't afford much, but we are hoping that this logo is the face of the product that will change computing forever (product details in brief)
Also, just to be as transparent as possible, after much thought we decided to go with non guaranteed. The reason for this is that we are students and $175 is a lot of money to us. If we use your logo, we promise you will get paid. If we really feel we can't use any of the submissions, we need the flexibility to back out. We're really sorry about this and hope you understand.
What we have built is a product calledUnsynced. Basically, this is a product that is a desktop mediamanagement application for your BlackBerry. The catch is that theapplication itself is installed on the BlackBerry. Therefore, wheneveryou plug your BlackBerry into a computer the applicationautomatically launches without installing anything. The application looks and functions similar to iTunes, where you can add songs, burnCDs, create playlists, and listen to music. However, all of the musicand playlist files come from the BlackBerry itself - NOTHING is storedon the desktop computer. This may be unrealistic now, but memory capacity is doubling every year with SanDisk announcing a new MicroSD format that can support up to 2000 GBs! But why not just stream everything from the desktop or the internet? Battery capacity is only doubling every 10 years, with network access being the biggest consumer of battery.
Our product means that you can take your entiremobile and desktop media experience with you wherever you go. Yourfriend has a new song you want? Plug in your BlackBerry to hiscomputer, add the song, put it in your playlists, and then unplug - thesong and all the changes now appear on your BlackBerry. Want to listento music through your friends speakers? Just plug in your BlackBerryand use the iTunes-like player that automtically launches, with all your songs and playlists comingfrom the BlackBerry.
So that is what we are doing, we areletting you "unsync" your music experience. Why always go and sync youriPod to your desktop when you can store your entire media experienceright on your BlackBerry and take it with you wherever you go? We wantour logo to reflect this paradigm, basically that your are cutting thecord and keeping everything with you, right in your pocket. We want thelogo to be extremely simple, with the text "Unsynced" and a simplegraphic that reflects the above. There could also be emphasis on the"Un" part (perhaps colored "Un" and black "synced").
Again, wedon't have a ton of money, and will be demanding with the design, butdue to its simplicity we think it could be a good job. And who knows, with all of the interest RIM (maker of the BlackBerry) has expressed inthis, you might just one day see your work everywhere :)
- A simple design
- "Unsynced" "UnSynced" or "UNSYNCED", whatever looks best :)
- A simple graphic that represents the "unsynced" paradigm designed above
- Must (at least) work on a white or light gray background
- Overly strange text :p
