Tactical Information Systems (or Tactical InfoSys)
We are the founders of a new software company offering hosted biometric matching services to law enforcement agencies in small and medium sized cities and counties across the US. Think cool blinky machines from CSI: Las Vegas but with an affordable monthly fee instead of equipment to purchase and without requiring a large IT support staff. Think of a "37 Signals" type approach.
This is a new service and is unknown to our target audience. Biometric matching includes fingerprints, palm prints, writer's palms, face and iris matching.
Our technology is new, cutting edge, very cool but still affordable. Our service is very easy to use. Right now a stand-alone version of this technology is available but is generally only accessible to large organizations. Our competitors are Goliath and we are David.
We are targeting law enforcement and first responder agencies in small and medium sized cities and counties first. They tend to be conservative and traditional and often have a military background. We expect to expand to other audiences later.
Imply apple pie, baseball, the hot chick in a bikini carrying an assault rifle with a flag flying behind her. Think patriotic. But please don't beat us over the head with any of it.
We have other future products planned that would be marketing to a non-law enforcement audience, so the focus should be biometrics, cool technology and not on law enforcement.
We want to present ourselves as cool, sleek, technically advanced but still easy to work with and easy to use, even if you aren't comfortable with computers. So the goal is to push the boundaries a little compared to our competitors, but not so much that that our target audience cannot relate to us.
We are looking for a logo to represent our new company, Tactical Information Systems, LLC. We are also considering using "Tactical Infosys" as a shorter version of the name.
The logo will be used on business cards, letterhead (next contest) and a website (future contest).
Would like a logo that has both a color and black & white version. Feel free to deviate from the traditional and expected but not so far that you freak out our customers. Red, white and blue and a fingerprint are the standard images used in this industry - we want to avoid trite cliches but not so much that we scare them.
Our nearest competitor is http://www.afix.net/
We really like http://37signals.com/ but not pastels and not round and cartoon-ish
We are not impressed with these logos/designs, but at least you know what else is out there.
We need print and web format - both layered .psd and .jpg and whatever format a print shop will want.
Please don't use stock images or clip art.
