Wie jscroggins das erste logo design Abenteuer antrat
This has been in my head for about 8 years, and I am finally making the time in the evenings and weekends to get it done. My end goal (if I can get this off the ground) is to partner with different organizations (schools, etc..) to help youth battle the obesity epidemic and teach them the value of goal setting and achieving their objectives.

There are some similar sites out there that are way too technical for the average person, and others that are trying to appeal to folks who have never worked out before. FitPublic is trying to be somewhere in between.
The goal of FitPublic is to provide easy to use tools that help people track their progress against their fitness goals.
The target audience is people with fitness oriented lifestyles who are active in strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular training. They would have some familiarity with the exercises on the site, workout regularly, and may be in training for a sport or just passionate about fitness. A lot of these folks don't have the tools needed to continue to make progress and motivate which is where FitPublic helps out.
The types of workouts vary from weights, Crossfit, and cardio to plyometrics. FitPublic also has a meal and nutrition lookup and log, as well as suggested nutrient levels to achieve goals.
The site currently has about 50% of the functionality built and our goal is to go live in April of 2010. You can get an idea of the functionality, colors, and layout by going to http://126.96.36.199 (primarily test data is all that's there right now).
I am hoping for something that looks good in a single color (black or orange) and am pretty set on the colors unless you have something absolutely mind-blowing.
Why the current logo won't work (http://188.8.131.52):
- existing logo of dumbbell / barbell is played out
- the logo needs to convey sense of fitness, not just weightlifting. This doesn't have to be literal (could be a "strong" font etc..)
- appeals to both sexes and applicable to training for any sport
What I would like:
- a horizontal'ish design that fits in the existing layout would be ideal but not required
- needs to be clean and simple
- will need to be screen-printed on shirts and other clothes so can't have really small detail that will plug up
The name originally came from the concept of creating a nation (republic) of fit-minded people. If the logo can tie back to that then great. I was trying to go with something that you may see on a national flag but all I could come up with were communist looking fist designs which looked bad.
I appreciate the time from everyone that reads this, and more so to those that participate and help me out!
