The Gen Y: We Care is a youth development program! This project was undertaken to equip our local communities, many of which are Aboriginal, with the tools to empower their children and youth. The development framework is based on 40 internal and external assets that research has shown contribute to positive and healthy youth development.
The Gen Y: We Care program provides a long-term, and consistent best practice in engaging youth through community training, delivering programs (self-esteem workshops, self-defense training, etc) and creating a Community Champions Network within the communities and social service providers. We have partnered with key external groups including; the community, Government, local RCMP, local social service agencies, First Nations and industry on this innovative initiative.
Research conducted throughout the United States has shown that there are a number of external and internal assets, such as positive values, empowerment, and constructive use of time, that are powerful influences on adolescent behavior- regardless of gender, ethnicity, economic situation, or geographic location. This asset-based approach promotes positive behaviors and attitudes, but also protects youth from a number of detrimental behaviors.
The key audience for this Gen Y: We Care logo will be:
- Inernally within our organization
- First Nations groups
- Other industry
- Service Agencies
- Youth
This logo will be used both on the web and print collateral.
The Program has a three-fold focus, which includes community training sessions, corporate sponsorship of the delivery of innovative community-based youth programming and the creation of a Community Champions network. As a foundation of the program, multiple training sessions were held in which over 70 social service providers, community leaders, and government officials were given in-depth training on the foundations of the asset based framework, utilization of the assets in program planning and delivery and effective communication regarding the purpose of the program and the framework itself. This training equips those directly in the community with the tools to educate other community members and service providers.
For the Gen Y: We Care logo it could be designed one of two ways:
1) Gen Y: We Care
2) Gen Y - We Care
Our standard font is Helvetica Lt Light, however we don't need to use that font, just something to consider when designing the logo. All of our collateral is typically done in espresso brown (PMS 7532) and light blue (PMS 657), so a logo to accompany those colours if possible.
- Please design a logo that is bold, bright and vibrant as this program is targeted towards children.
- No Cartoons, we want it to be playful but not cheap or childlike
- Typeface should be crear, simple and bold. We want something that stands out.
- Please do not use any stock images or clip art in the logo
The files we will require are:
Print file format - .ai (CMYK)
Web file format - .jpg and layered .psd (RGB)
I look forward to seeing your designs! If you have any questions, please let me know. Thank you.
