West Chester Dish.com (Exton Dish.com, Phoenixville Dish.com)
West Chester Dish is a local foodie community that celebrates the unique restaurant and dining scene around our small Philly suburb. We reach our community through our website and blog (WestChesterDish.com), fun local events, a partnership with a local newspaper, a weekly radio program, email marketing, twitter, and facebook.
We try to keep the tone light-hearted and tongue-in-cheek. We talk a lot about local restaurants, but balance it out with recipes and tips for home cooking and sharing stories that revolve around food. Basically, we're all about having fun while eating and getting people excited about the good food to be found all around them.
Currently, we only run WestChesterDish.com, but we want to launch two more websites this year, and we hope they can have a consistent look-and-feel and identity, while still retaining local character.
1) all who love food but don't take themselves too seriously
2) suburban/small-town but very internet saavy
3) well-educated, middle-class professionals (yuppies)
4) men and women ages 23-53
5) both genders (but our audience is slightly more female than male)
6) flavor geeks, wannabe conoisseurs, and middle-to-top chefs
Our current logo (visible at westchesterdish.com) uses our shortened name "wc dish". It worked for a while, but it's feeling a little dated and boring, and won't translate well to full town names.
TEXT... The new logo should say "West Chester Dish". Emphasis should be on "West Chester", the town name. We need a logo that will work with different town names of varying length, since we hope to launch sister sites called "Exton Dish" and "Kennett Square Dish".
COLOR... Color in the logo should complement the existing palate on the website... we'll be changing the overall design soon, but we need to incorporate the new logo before we get around to that. HOWEVER, don't be constrained by our colors... if your logo's color palette is awesome, we'll change the website to match it!!!
LOGO... the logo can be a simple type treatment, or it can be accompanied by a graphic, but keep in mind that, while the word "Dish" will be used in all variations, the town name will change.
THEME... anything relating to food/eating is cool... we like the use of plates, forks/spoons/knives, napkins, glasses, serving tray, dining table, etc. Although the site is local-focused, we definitely DON'T want anything like streets or buildings in the logo.
