Davenport Peters will be a new flooring line that my company will be distributing in early 2010. The Davenport Peters name has been around since 1811. Davenport Peters is the second oldest wholesale lumber company in the U.S. Davenport Peters came about when Dyer Peters decided that he was going to take his products to market vs let the market come to him. Prior to Davenport Peters, captains of small schooners would take wood products and sell them as best they could as they traveled up and down the coast with shingles, spruce, pine and lath. Davenport Peters has been an innovator in the Lumber Industry since its inception.
We want to convey an elegant yet classic feel and really leverage the fact that the name has been around for nearly 200 years without seeming old and stuck in our ways. The Davenport Peters wood flooring line will be distributed in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Southeast in the initial campaign with a nationwide presence shortly thereafter.
We will carry flooring products from the following species: Pine (Antique Heart and New Heart Pine, Oak (Red, White, New and Reclaimed), Chestnut (Reclaimed), Cumaru (Brazilian Teak), Jatoba (Brazilian Cherry), and Domestic Cherry
We will be marketing the Davenport Peters line to over 2400 flooring dealers/retailers.
We are looking for a logo that we plan to use in the following applications:
- Marketing brochures
- Banners stand for trade shows
- We prefer to have files in adobe format as we will want to be able to drop the logo into specials newsletters etc.
- Logo needs to work in color and black and white.
I really want this logo to capture the nostalgia of a company that has been around since 1811; however, we don't want to look "old" and stuck in the 19th century. We are a quality and customer service oriented manufacturer and distributor who takes a lot of pride in the products we create and take to market.
We ask that interested designers use their imaginations as we have no preference on colors. I look forward to all of the great designs from this contest.
