Wie Tobie Langel das erste logo design Abenteuer antrat

Open Source First (or OpenSourceFirst)
Erzählen Sie uns, wer Sie sind und wen Sie erreichen wollen?
We are a boutique consulting firm that helps companies make themselves desirable to top tech talent (aka A players), by creating a engineering culture that puts open-source front and center.
Our target audience is engineering directors, VP and CTOs of mid to large companies which have large software engineering teams (from 25-250 software engineers) and are having a hard time competing for talent against startups and large, successful tech companies like Google, Facebook, or Amazon.

Designs zur Inspiration
I like the simplicity of this design. Also the fact that it works really well in black and white.
I <3 designs inspired from old US design, even if this is probably not a good fit for my brand.
I really like the simplicity here.
This one works well. It's very literal, but I like it.
The Negative space usage is well done, here. I like logos that stand out by themselves, but which offer a deeper story once you observe them more, e.g.: the arrow hidden in the fedex logo. I find that such logos (not necessarily using negative space) stay in the mind more.
There's something very unique and personal about this logo. I love calligraphy and typography. So this kinds of touches on both. A nice blend between something organic and and much more geometric.
I love how the the bird (organic) dissolves into pixels (something much more technological). My work sits at the border between business, society, technology, and people, so this resonates.
I like how dynamic that logo is.
Simple and effective
That one's just really graphic. Stands out well.
Note that "First" in Open Source First is meant to be understood as "by default" like you find in "mobile first." That is: our goal is to get companies to adopt a work mode where their software development is open-source by default, and only when a piece of software is a key part of the company's core business, should it be made proprietary.
This completely changes the culture and creates a much more open and creative environment which benefits the people working there, the company, and the community at large which can reuse already built software.
We help transform company cultures by enabling internal conversations around the benefits of open-source for recruiting and employee morale, by streamlining processes around open-source contributions, and by empowering engineers.
