We need a unique identity for the parent brand Planetwize and one of it's product's Actiontrax. This identity should work as a base that can be easily be used for future branding.

Planetwize Logo:

What is Planetwize?
Planetwize is a unique media company that combines consulting, entertainment, and sustainability projects. We leverage music and other technologies to raise funds and awareness for innovative projects, providing users with quality entertainment, education, and an outlet to do good. We are part record label, part consulting firm, and part multimedia company.

Planetwize conceives and executes sustainability projects using technology, live and recorded music, and new media outreach. We license music from socially active artists for Actiontrax compilations, which are downloadable from planetwize.com and are available as ‘green’ CDs from select retail partners. We also produce live events centered around music and sustainability.

Music transcends all boundaries and captures the imagination of people. It is our tool of choice for changing the world. Also, sales of digital music tripled in 2006 to $1.1 billion, as consumers downloaded an estimated 420 million tracks. Meanwhile, the exploding lifestyles of health and sustainability (LOHAS) market segment and strong trends in corporate social responsibility (CSR) and conscious consumerism make Planetwize a timely venture. Our unique business model gives artists, music lovers, and non-profits a venue to make change.

Planetwize is the parent company that specializes in globally-conscious empowerment through sustainability projects, utilizing technology and content to help drive change in developing countries, and a resource for people and companies to learn how they can leverage music, media, and technology for the benefit of the planet.

This logo should be very web2.0, compelling, imagery heavy, convey specific meaning, and have a strong visual metaphor that helps to explain the companies underlying mantra and desire to effect positive change in the world amongst people both at the top and bottom of the economic pyramid.

Actiontrax Logo:

Actiontrax will produce digital compilation music albums that partially benefit non-profit causes. Co-branding with non-profits and other companies will occur on all types of media. It is important, therefore, that the Actiontrax logo be transposable and contain a strong ideogram.

Design the logo based on the theme "Music To The Rescue." Additionally, the logo must be simplistic enough that it can be used with other big brands cohesively in cross-promotion. Examples: Ebay, Starbucks, Oxfam, etc. The palette should be simple enough that the logo can be used in a 1-color format and still be strong and compelling.



I would actually like less emphasis on green, environmentalist, nature, earth, etc. This is more about people, empowerment, technology, upliftment, justice, knowledge, sustainability...the human elements.





Logo remarks:
Technorati: good color scheme, nice icon. ‘speech bubble’ good metaphor
BitTorrent: don’t like the icon (is it a wave?). Do like the two-tone type
Skype: don’t like this logo. Shape, bubbles, sheen, color - all bad.
YouTube: great logo. Seems familiar and timeless (TV Guide). Good differentiation of words, with frame emphasizing ‘Tube’
Basecamp: nice and simple with pleasing colors. Not wild about font
Shout!: don’t like the color. Not very compelling
Writely: compelling but don’t like the angled text.
Popsugar: no good
YouSENDit: like the rhythm of the word, interesting icon
AllPeers: good use of shapes and colors
Citycita: nice thick font, good simple icon, nice color contrast
Last fm: don’t like this approach with font set in color block
EchoSign: good shapes and simplicity. Like the shadow. Don’t see the relation between icon and name.
Linked in: good though too like YouTube. Logo not a good metaphor for what the site is.
Tractis: not into the italics, hard to understand logo
RapLeaf: boring
Chip in: nice but icon too big and don’t like placement above text.
Itoolbox: bad. Too much going on, hard too read, loud
Limbo: interesting font.
Ubuntu: one of my favorites. Great symbolic icon says community, connectedness. Nice colors and font. Each letter breathes.
Rallypoint: reminds me too much of microsoft.
Pando: icon too obscure.
Nice and simple, as the name suggests. Yellow ‘snap’ good contrast to black.
Spotplex: no good. Again with the word set in a block. Lame font
Liberated films: not artful or suggestive. Too much happening.
Cyworld: OK. Emblematic. Suggests big things. Nice colors
Wetpaint: easy to understand. Clear connection between icon and name (but not too clear)
DissectMedicine: like combo of different fonts and color balance


Overall Target Audience:
We've broken the audience down into two major segments:

The first audience is a globally-conscious 22-40 year old that sees the value in philanthropy, is socially/environmentally aware, and actively effects positive action through causes they do/could support.

The second audience is a mainstream 18-32 year old that is interested in eclectic musical compilations that are global, independent, and authentic.

- Fully exclusive, unrestricted, and unlimited license including, but not limited to, unlimited use, modification, distribution, and re-licensing.
- All raw, layered, uncompressed, and unobfuscated source files (.psd, .fla, .ai, etc)
- Wholey original artwork - no part of produced designs may be based on or use (directly, or indirectly) any previously completed artwork by any artist, be it licensed or not.
