We're looking to create some beautiful detailed characters/units and buildings for a futuristic Sci-Fi Fantasy Universe to be used in a combat game currently called Intergalactic Invasion (working title). The character designs may be used for marketing purposes on websites, and later will be used as the templates to render the 2D and 3D characters in the game by the technology team.
Intergalactic Invasion is a Sci-Fi Fantasy combat strategy game. There will be many multiplayer battles comprising large numbers of varied attacking units and defensive buildings. Attacking units and defensive structures should display the following characteristics: Fierce, Intimidating, Combative, Ferocious, Terrifying, Menacing.
This is a game of where players will be regularly engaged in battles. Character and unit actions should produce desire for: Conflict, Urgency, Revenge, Destruction, Devastation.
This is a game of continual advancement with new and upgraded units being added at regular intervals. New units and upgrades should make players feel the following: Excited, Breathtaken, Delighted, Stirred, Inspired, Thrilled.
The characters are fantasy, but not cartoons.
Some of the units are human-like in form and should have a clear personality. They should have characteristics that help the player easily identify that personality (facial expressions will be important!). Some of the units are mechanical rather than person-like, but should still show elements of personality.
Your Illustration(s) should comprise any two of the four Units and two of the three Buildings. They can be in one illustration or separate. They may be 2D or 3D depending on your personal strengths and/or interpretation, but must capture the specific elements of the descriptions below.
The Four Units
Marauder (♂) - Short/no-range weapon, ground combat, fierce, brazen, wears armor or is naturally armored, wild, savage, an alien tamed by the marines of Earth
Space Ninja (♂) - Short/no-range weapon, ground combat, deceptive, sneaky, elusive, ephemeral, partial cloaking
Marine (⚥) - Ranged-weapon, ground and air combat, accurate, clinical, systematic,
Medic (♀) - Healer, mystical, professional, caring, sympathetic, sexy, sassy,
The Three Buildings
Please draw from the perspective of being outside the building, not inside
Command Centre - Main HQ, central hub, dominating, imperial, regal, imposing,
Gatling Gun - Defense that targets ground units, accurate, precise, rapid fire, sparking ammunition, controlled by basic human units
Photon Cannon - Defense that targets ground and air units, energy weapon, glowing spherical ammunition, heavy impact damage, controlled by sensors, intimidating, threatening
These designs will be used as part of a funding proposal for investment. If successfully funded, there is huge potential for additional 1-to-1 projects or even full-time future work (22+ Units, 20+ buildings), and we would like the successful designer to be part of that.
