We conduct seminars for sports organisations and businesses in which we utilise a number of concepts.
In our power-point presentations we also want to illustrate the concepts through a series of cartoons/illustrations. We need a cartoon for each of the following Concepts, headings and sub-headings. Each cartoon has to be separate from one another, but they are all part of the one portfolio (set).
Ideally the cartoons need to combine similar elements/characters and themes so viewers understand they "belong" together as a set. While sporting organisations and businesses are the intended audience, we want them to be as general as possible i.e., not just one sport or business endeavor, so we have use them for any sport or business.
The concepts are in 3 main categories, with each one divided into 2 headings, and each of those with 4 sub-headings, plus an additional 7 general cartoons. So that is 40 ideas in total, each to be illustrated by a simple yet memorable cartoon/illustration to appear on a single power-point slide (words in brackets not part of the original concept, but added to help you understand better).
The categories, headings and sub-headings are as follows:
Category 1: Innovating (coming up with new ideas)
Heading 1A: Identifying (finding new opportunities)
Sub-Heading 1Aa: Questioning (what opportunities are available?)
Sub-Heading 1Ab: Watching (for opportunities)
Sub-Heading 1Ac: Anticipating (guessing where opportunities are)
Sub-Heading 1Ad: Awareness (of opportunities when you weren't looking)
Heading 1B: Analysing (testing opportunities)
Sub-Heading 1Ba: Manipulating (time and space)
Sub-Heading 1Bb: Comparing (opportunities)
Sub-Heading 1Bc: Goal Setting
Sub-Heading 1Bd: Problem Solving
Category 2: Influencing (people)
Heading 2A: Enculturating (creating a group with good values)
Sub-Heading 2Aa: Disciplining
Sub-Heading 2Ab: Managing (people)
Sub-Heading 2Ac: Fun
Sub-Heading2Ad: Avoiding (trouble)
Heading 2B: Persuading
Sub-Heading2Ba: Encouraging (inspiring people)
Sub-Heading 2Bb: Steering (guiding the thinking of people)
Sub-Heading 2Bc: Motivating
Sub-Heading 2Bd: Empowering
Category 3: Implementing
Heading 3A: Deciding
Sub-Heading 3Aa: Simplifying (choices)
Sub-Heading 3Ab: Prioritising (choices)
Sub-Category 3Ac: Balancing (choices)
Sub-Heading 3Ad: Selecting (finalising choices)
Heading 3B: Systematising
Sub-Heading 3Ba: Organising (a system and all the elements)
Sub-Heading 3Bb: Repeating (a system so people learn it)
Sub-Heading 3Bc: Pressuring (people in the system so they get better)
Sub-Heading 3Bd: Maintaining (the system)
We also require 7 other miscellaneous cartoons depicting
A bridge (with the idea of thee need to get from one side of the river to the other)
A submerged ice berg (idea of 10 % above the water, but the 90% hidden below)
mutiny/stop work (a group refusing to obey its boss/commander)
a burst balloon (over-inflated enthusiasm for a project with no direction or planning to take it anywhere)
a mad scientist (lots of ideas and projects, chaotic working habits and indifferent results)
An over-worked juggler (doing too much so some items are going to fall).
A soon-to-be extinct dinosaur
Complex cartoons with lots of complicated art-work is probably not the best way to draw these cartoons. Instead stripped-down clean simplicity in artistic style that captures the thought is probably best.
Nevertheless please use originality of thought and clarity of design. Anything so that people who rely more on pictures, rather than written or spoken words as their main way of learning, can understand the concept in the cartoon instantly.
If you are unsure of the meaning of any of the concepts, please ask.
If you could come up with one common cartoon theme to illustrate everything, that would be brilliant, although it may be too difficult. Refer to the written explanations in the first attachment to see the difference in the iCubed concepts (creativity, social ability, production-line task).
Please remember that the seminar presentation is for groups who are involved in competition (both sport and business), although if you think you can still 'sell' the concepts in cartoons with different references/ideas...go for it!
