This blog design is for an Australian children's book author who is fun, imaginative, and practical at the same time. The blog is being set up as a story telling and marketing medium for her new book titled Louie the Lamb. So in effect this is really Louie's blog; the story is just being told through the eyes of the author which is based on a true story. Louie is a curious little lamb who gets along better with cats and people than other lambs.
The target audience for the blog is parents with children aged 3 to 6 which is the target market for the book to be released through this site. The design should attract parents looking for something to read with their children and also let out their own inner child.
The design can be based on as much or as little of the attached illustrations and photos. Feel free to use any part of them in your design. The actual blog theme should lean towards the imaginative illustrations whereas the photos will be used more for the actual blog content.
Strong, bold colours should be used to accentuate the environment/fantasy: green, green grass; blue, blue skies; yellow/gold sun etc.
There should be a menu integrated with the items from the attached site map. A two column layout would work best, one column for the main articles and a smaller column for Newsletter sign-up, Subscribe to RSS, Become Louie's Friend on Facebook, Recent Adventures [displays a list of the 3 most recent blog posts below], Past Adventures [which would list the blog archives below by month].
Most importantly have fun and let your creativity fly!
*Make sure to read over the Creative Brief as it will help you fully understand the project and what we are looking for in a design.
