I am 23 years old and a recent graduate from Harvard where I studied art history with a focus on textiles and, ultimately, quilts. After working as an assistant editor at Quilting Arts Magazine, I have decided to pursue my passion for making and designing quilts.
My ultimate goal is to sell my products, which include quilts of all sizes, bags, pillows, pincushions, key chains, and other accessories and home decor items. I also hope to sell my patterns and designs, and to share tutorials on my working process. My style is focused on the use of solid-colored fabrics in bright, bold colors. I prefer simple, geometric designs, primarily circles and stripes. My fundamental underlying goal is to create a cohesive, recognizable brand that emphasizes the modern side of quilt making and patchwork.
My target audience is younger, in their 20-40s, and will likely include mostly women. I would like to cater those with an appreciation for the handmade (both in buying it and creating their own), and an interest in contemporary crafts and design. However, I also hope to appeal to a wider audience if/when possible, including those who are interested in design overall and in contemporary fashion and interior decoration. Furthermore, through the blog portion of my website, I would love to appeal to those my age who are simply interested in my process, regardless of whether they make quilts or sew themselves.
I want a color, contemporary logo for the website (wordpress install) that is eye-catching and distinct, yet simple and easily repeatable (on business cards, an Etsy store, etc.).
The website needs to include the following tabs: Home (the blog), Gallery, About Pippa, Tutorials & Projects. Along the right-hand side of the site, I would like links to my Etsy store and flickr, as well as Buttons to various groups I am in (such as the New England Modern Quilt Guild) and advertisements.
I would like my logo to incorporate the primary elements of my quilt designs: bold, geometric shapes and circles--and lots of color! Please refer to the attached pictures for ideas. Rather than using the actual photographs to create the logo, I would like the logo to incorporate the shapes, designs, and colors of my work, while still maintaining the feeling of fabric and stitch as much as possible. If this isn't possible, using the actual photographs in the logo is fine.
I would like the basic layout to correspond to the attached file, but in terms of logo/design, I am open and excited to see what designers come up with!
