SpeechGrid
Distributed computing for speech recognition research
I have a logo, but need 16x16, 32x32, and 48x48 versions of it that look nice, for example, as a favicon or as an icon in the Windows tray.
The tray_*.png images attached to this design brief are screenshots of the icon in the windows tray. They look totally crappy. (The SpeechGrid icon is the leftmost icon in the Vista and XP screenshots, and there are two different versions of it in the top-left of the win7 screenshot.)
Some guidelines for creating great desktop icons, which might be helpful:

You can assume full 8-bit alpha channel/transparency support for the icons.
In your design proposal, please include images of your icon appearing in the following contexts:
* As a 16x16 icon in the XP, Vista, and Windows 7 tray areas. (Feel free to use the attached tray screenshots as your icon's backdrop.)
* As a 32x32 or 48x48 icon on top of a noisy desktop background.
* As a favicon in your favorite web browser.
Finally, this is just a hunch from a non-designer, but I feel like the green part of the speech bubble probably needs to be either a different shade of green, and/or bolder, in order to stand out across the many different types of backgrounds in the Windows trays.
Thanks!
