We're releasing a book titled "Self Made U: How To Thrive When Degrees Don't Matter". The cover (including the back and spine) needs to be simple and bold - something that will pop in Amazon's Kindle store as a thumbnail and on the bookshelf. The book is 5.5 x 8.5. The spine will be about .72"
The book is a guide to succeeding without a college education or degree. It is about making it on your own without conventional education. It's about how to build yourself as a person and accomplish the things you want to do.
The imagery should make the viewer feel like they are transcending/overcoming the current system/status quo by reading the book. People should feel that by reading the book, they will be rising above the "system", above their bosses, above everything - to true success.
It's important that the book "pops off the shelf" and catches the eye. The most important part of the design for us will be "does it sell", not "does it look pretty". So it is very important that it catches the eye, is very polished, and very engaging/interesting.
